Melanie Chy, a third-generation performer of Swiss, Italian and Chinese descent, made her stage debut at age six.  She was an exceptionally gifted student: at age eight, she performed a remarkable balancing and contortion act at the prestigious Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain in Paris, earning a silver medal and making her in instant sensation in the circus world.

Next came several hard years of training. In her current display, she powers effortlessly through a muscle-crunching routine that would foil most Olympic-level athletes.

Featured in major circuses and variety shows throughout Europe, Melanie made her American debut with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey, where she was given center ring and featured as one of the 3-Ring Stars of the show.

Combining the mental rigor of a martial arts master, the agility of an Olympic gymnast and the performance panache of a modern dancer, Melanie Chy revives the ancient art of hand balancing.
